Oi lY~l_ird~ AeSO(ffC2$
Dear Mr. Althouse:
I would like to thank you for your time spent in showing me around your mining
operation and the reclamation site.
The reclamation work you are doing is very impressive, particularly when one
considers the whole general ecosystem in which you are operating.
ye~_r _equest cencerr.ing the
reclamation of the site and
you are perhaps aware, sage
irrigation is absolutely ne~
mix, it is recommended that
use of fringe sage is very pertinent to the final
also presents somewhat of a paradox for you. As
will not tolerate very much irrigation, and since
:essary for the survival of t.`:e other seedings in the
sage be omitted from the mix.
The sage will invade the grass community, even after the grass is well established.
Since the reclamation area is surrounded by sage in the natural range, it is
inevitable that it will also invade the reclamation seeding in a short period of
time after the grasses are established and the irrigation has been concluded.
Z° Z can be of further assistance, please let me know.
Sin rely,
~~~
Don Bogart
Environmental Biologist
DB/lj
III IIIIIIIIIIIII III
DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES.
