I agreed to supply him with the fill needed to place a 30" culvert
under the road, which Mr. Pino said had always been there. The county crews
did all the work at the county's expense.
Seeding was begun on November 21, 1989. One and a half tons per acre of
straw mulch was placed over entire area. The area was fertilized before the
seeding was done, fertilizer rate was determined by soil samples taken of topsoil
piles on September 1, 1989 and tested by a soils lab. Straw was crimped in by
using a disc pulled with a farm tractor. Revegetation was completed on November
28, 1989.
In an ongoing maintenance program the banks of the pond where disced and
reseeded at the same time the reclaimed area was done. New rip rap was placed
in both inlets to the pond, to help control erosion that was occuring. The south
end of the west diversion ditch was fenced to make sure no cattle could get on
the reclaimed areas.
If you should have any questions, please contact me.
Sincerely,
/~'~~
Mike Keegan
Mine Manager
Inland Empire Commerce Center Kaiser Eagle Mountain, Inc Fontana Union Water Company Kaiser Waste Treatment, Inc.
