The soiLwaswell compacted and had very little moisture. <br />Three noes of the project had a slope that varied from 3-1 to 5-l. The slope of the remaining <br />two ac~~es is insignificant. <br />WD Yt>rds Scarified the five acres perpepdiculat to the slope tp an average depth of 4 incheis. <br />Scarifying was done to assist in erosion control and improve the seedbed. <br />The Pave acre a[ea was divided into six measured plots (see plot design page 2) and different <br />methods of seeding and mulching were examined. An organic fertilizer (Biosol}was also <br />applied to two of the plots. Areas I to V have approximately the same slope, so'sl, and soil <br />prepara.tipn. <br />All ares~s wece seeded at 20.Ibs. PLS/acre with-the followiag,seed types; Jose Tall <br />VKheatgass- 10:2 PLS ibs./acre, Alkalai Sacton- 0.6 PLS lbs./acre, Yellow Sweet Clover- 2.8 <br />PLS Ibs:./acre, Sand Dropseed- 0.2 PLS lbs./acre, Crested Wheatgrass- 4.0 PLS lbs./acre. In <br />additjori seeding for inside the perimeter of pond to Fvater level was done with Reid <br />Canarygass, 5.3 lbs. PLS/acre and Red Top- 4.3 PLS lbs./acre. <br />Area methods and procedures. <br />Area I was. slurry seeded. This method mixes seed (20 PLS lbs./acre), tacifler (150 lbs. /acre), <br />and mulch (75 lbs. /aae) and then the aqueous solution is sprayed on the soil. Tn a separate <br />operation an organic antendmegt Biosol was sprayed in slurry On the seeded area at the rate of <br />1 tQn/acre. This application was followed by hydro mulching with wooclfibet mulch at 250Q <br />lbs. facre. <br />Area II the slurry seeding method,was used again 6ui no Biosol was applied andthe <br />mulching was done with straw at 20001bs. !acre. The straw mulch was held in place with <br />tacifier. <br />Areas III, IV, 8~ VI were seeded by dolling the seed. The seeded area was then mulched wi{h <br />straw at 2000 lbs. /acre and the straw was held in place by crimpipg. <br />Area V was drill seeded and then Biosol at the rate of 1 ton/acre was sprayed in slurry. <br />This area was then hydro-mulched with wood fiber mulch at 25001bs.facre. <br />
