GUNMISON N0. 1 MINE <br />4.5 Site Specific Reclamation Procedures <br />4.5.1 Surface Facilities Site <br />Efforts are made to minimize surface disturbance during construction. All <br />suitable seedbed quality sail is removed from affected areas and stockpiled for <br />reuse (refer to Section 3.4.1). Portions of the stockpiled material are <br />replaced on areas around buildings and other facilities after construction is <br />completed. The remaining material is stockpiled far the life of the surface <br />facilities site. The stockpile has keen vegetated with the permanent seed mix <br />for erosion control purposes. <br />As mentioned in Section 3.1.7, it was necessary to remove oakbrush from around <br />the plant and portal areas to reduce the fire hazard. Certain of these areas <br />were seeded with the permanent seed mixture. However, in accordance with MSHA <br />regulations, the areas around the fans, powder magazines, and portals were not <br />revegetated. ~' <br />Reclamation of the surface facilities area following construction winvolve~ ` <br />filling, grading, scarifying, and topsoiling. Seedhed quality material is <br />removed from the temporary stockpile and distributed uniformly over the areas to <br />be revegetated. Areas within the plant site are revegetated after construction <br />using the permanent seed mix listed in Ta61e 4.4.5.A except for selected areas <br />which are landscaped to provide a pleasant working environment. Lower soil <br />horizons are used for fill as subsoil base in order to obtain an overall soil <br />depth necessary to enhance and sustain plant growth. Following topsailing, and <br />prior to planting, nutrients and soil amendments are added if needed to <br />establish vegetative growth. Reseeded areas are mulched or the seed raked in to <br />the soil. <br />'then the surface facilities are removed, the topsoil will be redistributed to a <br />depth of 12 - 18 inches over areas where buildings and other facilities have <br />been. These surfaces will be revegetated using permanent vegetation seed and <br />the seedling mixtures. Fertilizer and mulch will be applied in accordance with <br />Section 4.4.3. <br />4-20 <br />
