Mr. Charles L. Jackson ~ ~ - 2 - - March 22, 1985
-'' 3:,.Page 3, Area 3 references "Dismantle, close portal" with a reclamation
__ cost of ;10,000.00. Please provide more information on how this value was
_ -~ determined, - - -
4. Page 4, Area 9 references "Flood Control" with a reclamation cost of
X200,000.00. Please give more detailed information as to how this value was
obtained. ~ '
5. Page 4, Area 9.references "Revegetation Peri. Road" with a cost per acre
of X700.00. Page 2. of this attachment referenced reclamation costs ~~f
X1,045.00 per acre. Please specify why a lower amount is required in this
area. -
B. General Concerns
1. Please provide more detailed breakdown as to how the "Grading & site
preperation" was derived at the various sites where this activity must occur.
-' II. Annual Report
The report as presented gives a good review of the site; however, we believe
-- more information is needed to accurately determine the activities th~rt have
.occurred and are proposed to occur. Providing this additional information
would reduce speculation and inaccuracy. _
• The Division is aware that the magnitude of .t he Henderson Mine does not lend
_ itself to easily being broken into the categories specified for an annual
-_ report as outlined under Rule 2.4 of the Rules and Regulations. However, in
the same regard, the magnitude of this project dictates that enough
information be provided to clearly reflect conditions so we are able to
accurately report what has and will occur to the MLRB and the public. Thus,
_ - - we request the following items being addressed (which would be in addition to
the information already submitted).
.-. - A. A compilation of the number of acres affected up to 1984, acres affected
during 1984, and acres to be (or proposed to be) affected in 1985. "ihis could
easily be portrayed on a table and each year revised to reflect currf~nt
situations. Having this information on a single table would greatly reduce
_~._ the time the Division currently spends compulating the information provided in
- - pages 1-6 of the attachment.
B. A compilation of the number of acres reclaimed up to 1984, acres reclaimed
in 1984, and acres proposed to be reclaimed in 1985. This could be F~laced on
the same table discussed under item A above.
C. Along with the above table, a short narrative of the location of each.area,
affected or reclaimed would be needed.
D. The bottom of Page 2, discusses definitive measurements of the Soil -
Tailing Test Plot would be made in the future. Due to the impact these
findings have in relation to the approved reclamation plan, the Divi~:ion
believes it is important to acquire this definitive measurement information.
When will this definitive measurement occur?
