As was discussed with Larry Brown, the reclamation e:osts
proposed for 1985-86 will be presented to the Mined Land Reclamation Board
(MLRB) at their March 27-28, 1985 meeting. The following are concerns raised.
during our review of your proposed reclamation costs. Also includeii is .a
__ discussion pertaining to your annual report (some of which had previously been
_ - discussed with Mr. Brown when we discussed the Climax Annual Report).
I. Proposed Reclamation Cost - -
Our concerns under this category have been broken into two different areas:
specific concerns (which apply just to one particular area) and general
' concerns (which dear with an issue that relates to more than just one area).
-" -` A. Specific Concerns - ..
1. Page 2 of your discussion references reclamation activities cortipleted or
proposed to be completed in the very near future for Area No. 12. In
particular, there is a reference made to seeding being done in July. A review
of the proposed reclamation costs for this area reveals costs for only
fertilizer application. The MLRB has historically only released seeding costs
- once the vegetation has expressed itself. Since the area will not be planted
until July, it will be necessary to include costs for seeding.
Along these same lines, if there are other areas were vegetation hits yet to be
expressed or the area has yet to be seeded, it will be necessary to include
seeding costs.
2. Page 3, Area 2 references "Secure shaft opening" with a reclamation cost
- of 550,000.00. Please give more detailed documentation on how this value was
derived.
+il)~3 Centennial Building, 1313 Sherman Street Denver, Colorado 80203 Tel. (303) 866-3567
