VI. AUGMENTATION PLAN - STATUS
As a result ofi a ruling in Division 1 Water Court in 1984 affecting
• specific shareholders of the Ground-water Appropriators of the
South Platte River Basin (GASP), Coors Energy Company has submitted
an alternate plan of augmentation for the Keenesburg Mine operation
in Weld County, Colorado.
The plan identified structures to be augmented, existing water
rights (non-tributary appropriations) at the mine location, water
management plans, and water uses related to the operation and
reclamation plan at the Keenesburg Mine.
This augmentation plan also outlines proposed metering procedures
and determinations of consumptive use of the tributary water.
The original augmentation program that was administered by GASP can
be made to meet water replacement requirements at the Keenesburg
operation. However, an alternate plan was presented which closely
monitors actual water uses and augments them et the source of use.
Surface water losses by evaporation during transportation and
reservoir storage as they were related to the former GASP plan can
be eliminated.
Coors Energy Company submitted this plan to Division I Water Court
in February of 1985. When a draft decree is issued by the Division
I Water Court referee, and, upon Coors Energy Company's review and
• approval, the decree would then be subject to a 20-day public
protest period, after which the decree would be signed by the judge
if no protest was filed.
•
Page 9
