Speci/icafinn Aggregate Quarry : Spring 2001 Reclamation Reprnt
portion of this reclamation area, with the remaining 200 being placed in the
upper 1/3 of the lower portion. The species transplanted in reclamation area Ol-
t include:
Caragana (200) Lilac (100)
Nanking Cherry (100) Golden Current (100)
Mountain Mahogany (200) Hybrid Cottonwood (100)
Rocky Mountain Juniper (200)
Bare-root stock was treated with Mychortree, a root fungal innoculant.
This innoculant promotes transplant establishment and growth by supplying
mychorizal fungi that aid plants in nutrient uptake through symbiotic
relationships developed with woody plant roots.
Grass tublings were transplanted along the contour in reclamation area
Ol-2 Upper. Grass tublings (10 cubic inch container size) were transplanted
about 2.5 feet apart. Planting rows were spaced on contours about 10 feet apart.
A total of 2,000 grass tublings were be used. Transplants received polymer and
were fertilized. Thurber's fescue and Indian ricegrass were spaced alternately
along each row. These rows are expected to promote slope stability and reduce
soil movement through rapid establishment of these aggressive cool-season grass
species.
Schedule of Operations
Reclamation work was performed on site March 22-25, 29-30, April 1, and
19-20, 2001. Care was taken to avoid performing work that would adversely
impact excessively wet soils.
Habitat Management, Inc. 3 5/8/ Ol
