Mine ll2 (Ohio Creek Mine l+2) located in
Section 16, Township 1 5 South, Range 86 West of the 6th P.A1., Gunnison
County, Colorado. The 0. C. Mine is an underground mine removing coal
from the No. 2 bed or C bed of the Mesa Verde formation. In the area
of this report, the regional dip is approximately 3° Northwest; however,
there are local small fluctuations. Some faulting has occurred which
controls the limits of mining activity. These faults are also signifi-
cant to the operation of the mine.
It is the purpose of this report to present evaluations of [he sur-
face and ground water hydrology of the area, sedimentation and erosion
factors, subsidence monitoring and control, disposal of "gob" rock, and
{
to present some of the details of [he ultimate reclamation plan for the
site.
}IiSTORY AND SITE CONDITIONS '
According to the mine map by E. Schaff b Associates, this mine has
been operated apparently continuously since the early 1940's. It is a
relatively low production mine employing conventional mining methods.
The site consists of two levels; one the entry level, and below that
the load-out level. These two levels are separated by a bench approxi-
mately 20 feet high. Tlie site is on the southwest flank of a promontory
in tl+e Gunnison National Forest, on a small unnamed tributary northeast
