<br />Seneca II 1998 Annual Reclamation Report <br />Digital Submission of 1998 Annual Reclamation Report <br />Seneca Coal Company (SCC, Sn cooperation with the Colorado ^ivrsion of Minerals and <br />Geology, submits the Seneca II 1998 Annual Reclamation Report with maps on CD-ROM. The maps <br />ate AutoCAD Version 14 drawings and can be overlaid with 199 subml ttals by insetting a[ <br />polo[ 0, 0. Also, an updated existing topography contour map is included on the CD-ROM. The <br />MS Word Document on the CD is formatted with hypertext links to quickly move you through <br />the document by clicking on the appropriate link, (underlined in blue). <br />1998 Disturbance Area <br />A small area of disturbance occurred near stockpile BB in 1998. This disturbance was the <br />result of the Coral respr ead of the stored topsoil in pile BB and subsequent [eclaiming of <br />the stockpile BB area. See Exhibit 9-3a, from the 1995 report for the limits of <br />disturbance as of December 31, 1998. <br />• Backfilling and Grading <br />SCC began the final pl[ reclamation grading of the Wolf Creek and Wadge pits in January <br />1998. Through the summer of 1998, 179.1 acres were backCrlled antl graded. These areas are <br />shown on drawing 5298-2. <br />Soil and Spo11 Monltorl ng <br />SCC is required by Permit C-BO-005 to monitor the salvage, storage, and redistribution of <br />soil and spoil handling operations at Seneca II Mine. Specific programs include documenting <br />soil recovery, verifying soil [edis[ribution thickness, determining final graded spoil <br />quality, determining soil fertility, eva lua [r ng plant motinq characteristics, recording <br />the sou[ce of replaced so11r and compl etl ng an annual soil balance. The following sections <br />present [he soil and spoil monitoti ng data fo[ the 1998 calendar year. <br />Soil Recovery Documentation <br />Soil recovery llml is and depth were not recorded in 1998 due to no addr[io nal areas having <br />copsoil removed from them. <br />• <br />
