~ 3035337683 -RT BEMENT 12i21i94 ~0 P05
On December 12, 1994 I conducted a field visit to the areas
on the Mars pit that I had not seen before. i then completed
the reclamation recommendations along with vegetative and
climatic data. i spoke with Mr. Kinney over the phone and
told him I had finished the report and that I needed an
address to were the report should be sent. On December 13,
1994 nt the Maneoa Soil Conservation District meeting the
board discussed the mining permit application for the Mars
pit. The SCD Hoard informed me of their concerns about the
Mars pit and these concerns were then included in the
reclamation recommendations. During the meeting Bob Bement,
President of the SCD Board, brought up for review the
Reclamation Permit Application !or the Orion gravel pit.
This pit is located east of Keith or Mars gravel pit, on the
east aide of Co. Rd. 38. After reviewing this application
during the meeting I discovered that the reclamation
recommendations that i had originally done for the Keith pit
ware again photocopied, the pit name changed, and included
in the application for the Orion pit. i Informed the board
that I had not done any lield visits to the Orion pit and
had not given Mr. Kinney any information in regards to the
Orion pit.
Due to the problems that have occurred in regards to these
recent Reclamation Permit Applications any permits received
in the future will need to be review by the SCD Hoard before
any action is taken by the MRCS. Also any reclamation
recommendation that era provided by the NRCS will be given
to the SCD board for review before that information is
provided to the applicant.
Ra pectfully,
.Terry Archuleta-Range Conservationist
NRCS-Cortez Field Office
0108
