The adequacy of these procedures <br />for purposes of the larger stream survey program was verified with <br />Water Quality Control Division staff prior to the initiation of <br />sampling. <br />The number of replicate surface water samples taken :ad the <br />selection of a phase (soluble, total recoverable, total) far <br />~~ analysis varied by parameter and sampling series (season). Two <br />~'' <br />replicates were taken for each p:rametez is the first set of <br />collections (September 1983) and a single sample in December 1993. <br />The number of replicates per series was then increased to either <br />three os five for the three collection series conducted in 1984, <br />depending on the location and parameter. These elements were measured by <br />Gamma scan. Approzimatelp 3 liters of water was boiled gently to <br />dryness after addition of 1 qm MgS04 and 0.032 qm Ba carrier. <br />18 <br />
