b. Fertilizer Annlication -Idarado may apply inorganic fertilizer
(nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium) or organic fertilizer to individual,
several or all of the tailings piles if the results of monitoring, sampling
and/or analysis of the'revegetated areas conducted pursuant to Section
15.0 indicate that such application is necessary to promote appropriate
species diversity and cover. The rate of fertilizer applications will be
based on the results of revegetation monitoring conducted pursuant to
Section 15.0.
o. Mowing -Idarado may mow the revegetated areas on individual,
several, or all of the tailings piles if the results of monitoring conducted
pursuant to Section 15.0 indicate that mowing is necessary to promote
vegetative conditions by enhancing litter decomposition. If necessary,
mowing would be conducted in the fall near or at the end of the growing
season. Mowed cuttings, clippings and other organic debris will be left in
place to enhance nutrient decomposition and development.
d. Irrigation Water Application -Idarado may apply irrigation water
to individual, several or all of the tailings piles during the period from
March 1 through September 30 in an amount up to the difference between
[he average weekly aggregate precipitation for the preceding week for the
area in which the pile is located and the actual weekly aggregate
precipitation for that week for that area according to the procedures
specified in Section 14,1.3.
3. Paragraph 14.1.4 is renumbered and is modified to read as follows:
14.1.5. Correction of Erosion During Establishment Period. Throughout
the establishment period, Idarado will identify erosion rills or gullies that
occur on the piles and fill them with borrow material, regrade the areas
surrounding the gullies and rills, and retreat the areas with amendments
and seed. Idarado will attempt to identify the cause of any significant
erosion and take corrective measures to eliminate the cause, tvlrich
measures may include regrading areas of the pile, construction of
stabilized channels to convey runoff down the side slopes of the pile, and
other similar measures.
4. Paragraph 14.1.5 is renumbered to 14.1.6,
5. Paragraph 14.2 is modified to read as follows:
14.2. Revegetation Evaluation Period. At the end of the establishment
period for each tailings pile, as determined by Idarado and the State, an
-~-
