The 2001 grazing season was extremely dry and the forage did not rebound from a late frost. Seneca will conduct
annual production monitoring in both Wadge Pasture and Pecoco Pastures during 2002 field season. Since SCC
must haul water to the cattle in the Wadge Pasture this pasture is not utilized as much as [he Pecoco Pasture which
has live water. In 2001, SCC changed the Wadge pasture fence to include stock pond #29 at the lower Wolf Creek
reclaimed area. Assumptions: I long yearling = .8 AUM, requiring 648 pounds of forage per month. One AUM
requires 810 pounds of forage.
CHRONOLOGICAL HISTORY OF REVEGETATION
Areas revegetated from ]977 through 1995 at the Seneca [I Mine are shown on Exhibit 95.4, Chronological History
of Revegetation Activities in the 1995 Annual Reclamation Report, SCC 1996. Areas revegetated during 1997, 1998
and 1999 are shown on drawing 5299-4, 1999 Annual Reclamation Report. Areas seeded in 2001' are shown on the
Annual Reclamation and History Map found in this report.
SEDIMENTATION POND SURVEYS
SCC is required by Permit C-80-005 to monitor sedimentation ponds for sediment storage capacities. In TR-15,
CDMG approved the following frequency schedule to conduct sediment surveys for the ponds at Seneca [I Mine.
Sedimentation Pond Frequency Next Scheduled Survey
002 Once Every 5 Years 2002
003 Once Every 5 Years 2002
004 Once Every 2 Years 2002
008 Once Every 2 Years 2002
This schedule provides a sediment yield history and gives advance warning to operations personnel when sediment
clean-out work is required. hr accordance whir Rule 4.05.6(I1)(c}, SCC visually inspects each pond a minimum of
quarterly each year. During these inspections, any drastic change ire sedimentation storage or sudden increase in a
sediment delta at the inlet to the pond could be detected which would require mitigation. No sediment clean-out
work was conducted during 2001 for the sedimentation ponds at Seneca II Mine. Sediment Ponds 002, 003, 004, and
008 were surveyed in July 1993 for sediment determination. As stated in the pas[, ponds wntaining water aze very
s
5
