Permittee Name: •~itewater
•Permit No: M-77-129
Operation Name: Whitewater
Anniversary Date: 09 / 22 /
Building Mate, Corp.
500 Pit
91
Reference is made to MLRB Rules and Regulations, Section
2.4.1.
(1) Mining continued in Stage 1 and Stage C on the areas pre-
viously stripped. We continued to mine in Stage 1 removing
an additional 6.34 acres ± and we mined 0.81 ac. ± in Stage
C (brown). All of the area mined was disturbed previously.
The plant site in Stages W, Z and 2 is still in use (tan).
(2) We have resumed backfilling in Stage Y as approved (yellow).
No other stages require reclamation at this time. No
planting was scheduled for this year. A small section of
bank sloping was shaped on the south side of Stage 1 (green).
We have been forced to reshape a section of the river bank
along the north side of Stage Y that the river continues to
wear it away (gray). Over the years it has taken the large
overburden pile we had piled there for backfilling Stage Y.
Most of the materials mined this year were confined to the
portion of Stage 1 that will be lake bottom when reclamation
is complete. The slopes in Stages B s part of C have been
shaped (green). We may Bydro-Mulch them this fall if
weather permits.
(3) We will mine approximately 5.14 acres in Stage 1 and complete
the 1.88 acres ± remaining in Stage C this next year (dark
blue) . Both of these areas were stripped previously. If,
Stage C is completed this year mining will commence in Stage
D. Stage Z is still in use as approved in the plan.
(4) Monitoring has continued in the areas where revegetation has
been done in Stage X. Natural invasion of surrounding veget-
ation is starting to happen. The amendment was submitted in
1981 explained that until we stop dewatering Stage 1 the
chances of establishing vegetation in Stages X, Y and the
banks of Stage 1, are very slim because of the very arid
conditions in this area. Until water re-fills the lake, we
will not be revegetating Stages X, Y and 1. We will continue
backfilling the area in Stage Y as approved. The material
will come from Stage 1 and D when stripping begins. We will
continue to establish slopes within the mined areas as mining
progresses as they are called for in the reclamation plan.
