Numerous
meetings have been held with the representatives of Merrick
and Company and ARCO Coal Company during the course of our
work and individual problems have been discussed. The results
of this phase of the studies are presented in this report.
1.2 SCOPE OF THE STUDIES
The scope of the Phase 3 of our study was to evaluate the
interaction of the landslide deposits and the structures or
facilities located within the landslide area as it was de-
lineated during the Phases 1 and 2; the proposed .mine entries
and mine bench were of particular interest. The proposed access
road and other structures or facilities have been included in
our studies although less detailed field and office work have
been performed in relation to them.
1.3 METHOD OF THE STUDIES
Our previous report (see reference in part 1.1) concluded
field and office work related to the delineation and character-
ization of the landslide; results of this part of the study
will not be repeated within this report.
To accomplish the scope of Phase 3, the following work has
been performed:
1. Drilling of a total of six borings E-1, E-2, E-3 (these
three holes were assigned symbols P-1, P-2, and P-3 in our
aiwrco~o cowuna, e¢
