1
' 4.0 Existing Pavement Cross Sections
' The previously described pavement surfaces and also the cross-sections or thicknesses have been
visually reviewed more specifically with respect to the structural and overall general surface
condition. The gravel and paved segments of CR 7 and CR 36 appear to be structurally sound, in
' very good surface condition and in no apparent need of repair or additional maintenance. Both
County Roads aze currently carrying the same types of truck loadings that will be generated from
the site. The additional truck loadings expected to be generated from the site are not curtently
' anticipated to adversely deteriorate these County Roads any further as the loadings are similar to
the current truck loadings generated from the surrounding sites.
' S.0 Access at Harmony Road via CR 7
' Harmony Road is currently under the jurisdiction of the Colorado Department of Transportation
and functions as a two lane principal arterial. The highway is posted at 55 mph. A Westbound
left-turn lane currently exists on Harmony Road at CR 7. The proposed site uses and low peak
' hourly site traffic volume generation impacts to this intersection have been reviewed with the
Access Permit Coordinator of Region 4 of the Colorado Department of Transportation. No
objections have been made to the low amount of increased traffic to this intersection and
' therefore an CDOT access permit and further intersection improvements will not be required.
6.0 SummarX
Peak monthly average daily truck traffic generation from the Wellington Downs Pit is anticipated
to be 108 vehicles per day on each of CR 7 and CR 36. The level of service on these two roads
' should remain to be very good throughout the duration of this operation. The minimum stopping
sight distances at the two proposed accesses on CR 7 and CR 36 are significantly higher than the
' CDOT Roadway Design Manual recommendations. The passing sight distances were not
specifically reviewed as the vertical aligmnent of the current roadways already restrict based on
the current posted speed. The current roadway conditions are very good and aze not anticipated to
' be further deteriorated by this operation as the proposed truck loadings are similar to cuttent
truck loadings.
1

1

1
