The Revision 1 Area was seeded using the approved mix as
follows:
Western Wheatgrass
Slender Wheatgrass
Canada Bluegrass
Indian Ricegrass
Sideoats Grama
Blue Gama
Sand Dropseed
Green Needlegrass
Fourwing Saltbush
Birdsfoot Trefoil
Cicer Milkvetch
Saskatoon Serviceberry
Mountain Mahogany
Golden Current
Woods Rose
Total
1 lbs
1 lbs
0.1 lbs
0.5 lbs
1 lbs
1 lbs
0.1 lbs
1 lbs
1 lbs
1 lbs
0.5 lbs
2 lbs
1 lbs
1 lbs
2 lbs
14.20 1
pls
pls
pls
pls
pls
pls
pls
pls
pls
pls
pls
pls
pls
pls
pls
bs p
per
per
per
per
per
per
per
per
per
per
per
per
per
per
per
is p
acre
acre
acre
acre
acre
acre
acre
acre
acre
acre
acre
acre
acre
acre
acre
=r acre
This seeding was accomplished by (1)Hydroseeding (4)Hydromulching
(3)Tacking Mulch. Hydroseeding consists of mixing seed,
fertilizer and a small amount of wood fiber mulch together
and spraying it on the soil. A wood fiber mulch was used
on the Revision 1 area because of restraints put on the
San Juan National Forest restricting the use of hay or straw
that is not 100% weed free. 2000 pounds of wood was used
per acre, to insure proper moisture retention All areas
not located within the San Juan National Forest boundaries,
received a straw mulch at 2000 pounds per acre.
The location of all previously planted areas including current
areas are listed on the attached map. Approximately 37 acres
were topsoiled and seeded this year.
The erosion control fabric was replaced in ditch 3F, in
the spring. Due to a manufacturing error the fabric tore
during a heavy perception event. The factory replaced the
fabric, but too late in the season to install. The silt
fences in the ditch leading to pond 005 were removed to
facilitate topsoil haulage to the Revision 1 area, these
will be replaced this spring, at the same time the erosion
control fabric is replaced. A precipitation event in the
fall of approximately 4 inches over a period of four days,
did some minor damage to the contour furrows. These were
repaired and reseeded along with the reclamation work in
the fall. At the same time, areas on the East side Reclaimed
area, and Barrin Ridge were overseeded to help enhance areas
where vegetation is sparse. The seeding contractor hydroseeded
these areas, no mulch was used. We are still having problems
with Gophers causing blowouts in the furrows, at this time
we have no solution to the problem. An estimated 90% of
the failures in the contour furrows are contributed to Gophers.
2
