LOYti: I contacted the .operator, inform-
ing him of the inspection, and sending him o copy of the
inspection report, and informed him that this hearing would
be held, on what day and time, and so on. }le responded by
phoning first, and then with a letter of July 1, which is
the second page of what I gave you.
I was told that he plans to do the work
before the Board meeting, this Board meeting, certainly by
the third week in July, that his contractor, a Mr. Menzee,
would do the work, and Jim McArdle would be contacted to
go up there an take a look at what was being done.
Jim was not contacted and, as far as we know,
no action has been taken by the operator.
I've been out of town £or t}ie last ten days.
This is basically why Jim was handling this in my absensc,
and since he had been to the site as often as I had, I felt
it appropriate that he could oversee what was Happening up
there.
Since this is the case and Jim also was not
able to contact Mr. Menzee, the contractor involved, Z feel
that this has been a long-term problem. It dates back new
two years. It's unchanged. It continues to kick sediment
to the streams. I have some slides here, the latest ones
that I could show you, but I think the IIoard has seen a lot
of slides on this one.
I l f I J\!
