Climatic Conditions <br />Precipitation data by month from the Seneca II Mine for 1966,1987, 1968, 1989, 1990 and 1991 <br />as well as the long-term average from the nearby (but lower elevation) town of Hayden, are shown <br />in Figure 6. As can be seen, precipitation during March, June, and July 1991 exceeded the long- <br />term average at Hayden, while April and May amounts fell below the Hayden average. <br />1991 was indeed en improvement over 1988, 1989 and 1990 in terms of total precipitation for <br />the previous 12 months (see Figure 7); it was exceeded only by 1987 in this measure. When a <br />shorter-term cumulative measure of precipitation is considered, such as 6 months (Figure 8) or 4 <br />months (Figure 9), it can be seen that 1991 was even more similar to 1987. The difference is that <br />1991 was somewhat less hot than 1987; total degree days at Hayden (figure 10) exceeded the <br />long-term average by only 3.8 percent in 1991 compared to an exceedence of 9.8 percent in 1987. <br />Samole Adeauacv <br />A summary of sample adequacy calculations for the parameters of cover, production and woody <br />plant stem density is presented in Table 31 (Appendix 1). As can be seen in Table 31, sample <br />adequacy was achieved for all cover sampling, was sometimes close for production sampling, and <br />was achieved Tor woody plant stem density in the reference areas; high variability in shrub <br />presence in the reclaimed areas left calculated sample adequacy levels mostly astronomical. <br /> <br />20 <br />
