• wells upstream and downstream of these sites. Well FO-1 is characterized with calcium and sulfate as the <br />dominant cation and anion respectively. Well FO-4 exhibits sodium and sulfate as the dominant ions. <br />Fish Creek Alluvial Groundwater: During 1998, five Fish Creek alluvial wells (006-AY-I, 006-AZ-3, 006-AW- <br />2, 008-AU-3 and 008-AW-3) required monitoring for water levels and field parameters on a monthly basis, and <br />water quality sampling on a quarterly basis. Tables 26 through 30 provide summaries of the 1998 Water Year <br />data collected at each site. Tables 26a through 30a provide period of record statistical summaries of collected <br />data at each site. Figures 48 through 57 provide graphical representations of water levels and selected water <br />quality parameters recorded at each site. <br />Water levels at well 006-AY-I, located on Fish Creek upstream of the Southwest Mining District and Mine 2, had <br />exhibited a relatively steady increase from approximately 1990 through 1994 (see Figure 48). Since 1995, water <br />levels have been more erratic and that trend has reversed. The maximum fluctuation in water level at this site <br />over the period of record is 7.5' to date. Well 006-AZ-3 is situated downstream of 006-AY-1 and below the Fish <br />Creek Borehole. Well 006-AZ-3 is monitored in conjunction with surface water site 307 and the water level <br />relationship is presented as Figure 50. Further downstream, well 006-AW-2 and surface water site 1002 are <br />monitored and water levels are plotted as Figure 52. Again in 1998, [he interrelationship between alluvial <br />groundwater and surface water is evident on these two plots. Well 008-AU-3 and surface water site 305 monitor <br />water levels upstream from the Fish Creek Tipple area with data presented on Figure 54. The furthest <br />• downgradient Fish Creek alluvial monitoring well is 008-A W-3 (Figure 56) located near the Fish Creek Tipple. <br />No unusual water level fluctuations were noted at any of these sites during 1998. <br />Elevated ammonia readings first detected in August of 1995 were sustained throughout 1998, with new maximum <br />value being recorded at well 006-A W-2. Additionally, at well 006-A W-2, new maximum values were recorded <br />for SAR and nitrite; and new minimum values were recorded for lab pH, alkalinity, and bicarbonate. At well <br />006-AY-l, A new maximum value was recorded for lab conductivity; new minimum values were recorded for <br />alkalinity and bicarbonate. At well 006-AZ-3 new maximum values were recorded for dissolved solids, hardness, <br />and sulfate; new minimum values were recorded for lab pH and SAR . Anew maximum nitrite value and a new <br />minimum lab pH value were recorded at well 008-AU-3. A new maximum value for lab conductivity was <br />recorded at well 008-A W-3. Other monitored water quality parameters resumed values at the Fish Creek alluvial <br />wells typically within previously established ranges during 1998. <br />Trout Creek Alluvial Groundwater: During 1998, one Trout Creek alluvial monitoring well (008-AT-1) required <br />monitoring far water levels and field parameters on a monthly basis, and water quality sampling on a quarterly <br />basis. All monitoring requirements were met at this site. Table 31 provides a summary of the 1998 Water Year <br />data collected. Figures 58 and 59 provide graphical representations of water level and field conductivity <br />information to date. One additional well (Jones) required monitoring for water levels and field parameters on a <br />• quarterly basis, and water quality sampling for full suite parameters on an annual basis and sulfate on a quarterly <br />-7- <br />
