These <br /> activities will continue throughout the coming year. <br /> This report covers the time period between April 1999 and April 2000. During that time Cripple <br /> Creek & Victor Gold Mining Company("CC&V")reclaimed 23.1 acres of land. Fifteen acres of <br /> this was completed on the Arequa Gulch Overburden Storage Area. The 1999 Arequa Gulch <br /> Overburden Storage Area reclamation site was graded,topsoiled, and planted with over 60 local <br /> tree transplants in October of 1999. The area was fertilized with 350 pounds per acre of 23-18-8 <br /> NPK fertilizer, seeded with CC&V's reclamation seed mix at a rate of 39.1 pounds per acre, <br /> mulched at a rate of 300 pounds per acre, and tackified at a rate of 200 pounds per acre. The <br /> 1999 Arequa Gulch Overburden Storage Area revegetation activities were completed in <br /> November of 1999. <br /> The remaining 8.1 acres of reclamation completed in 1999 consisted of a topsoil stockpile, an <br /> area along the Valley Leach Facility Phase III diversion ditch, and miscellaneous small <br /> disturbances. The Phase II toe berm was raised in 1999 and will be reclaimed this spring. <br /> A total of 1,330 spruce and aspen seedlings were planted on the 1992 reclamation area and 1000 <br /> ocean spray and currant seedlings were planted on the 1998 Arequa Gulch Overburden Storage <br /> Area first lift reclamation. The 1998 Arequa Gulch Overburden Storage Area reclamation was <br /> touched up in areas where vegetation had not established well and where minor erosion had taken <br /> place. This work was done mostly by hand. <br /> CC&V collected seed from Quaking aspen (Populus tremuloides)and Bristlecone pine(Pinus <br /> aristala)species in the area.
