3. SEDIMENT POND/ OTHER IMPOUNDMENT/ LIVE TOCK WAT R POND <br />• INSPECTION REPORTS <br />Requirement <br />[n accordance with Rule 4.05.9(13) all impoundments aze inspected quarterly for structural <br />weakness, erosion and other hazardous conditions. Reports aze to be submitted annually to the <br />Division. Colowyo conducts quarterly inspections of sediment ponds, the washbay pond, the <br />Taylor pump holding pond and the stockponds located on reclaimed azeas. <br />During 1999 Technical Revision 41 was approved which changed the operation of all ten of the <br />sedimentation ponds from structures that provide containment of the design event to structures <br />which provide treatment of the design event. During 1999 all pond outlet structures needing <br />modification (such as perforated riser pipes) was completed. <br />The Sediment Pond Inspection Reports aze found in F by 'bit Z. The reports indicate the ponds aze <br />operating in accordance with certified and approved designs. All embankments, spillways, and <br />other outlet structures aze in good operating condition. <br />• Streeter Pond (0011-The Streeter pond received no maintenance. <br />Work Area Pond {0021-The Work Area pond received no maintenance. <br />Gossard Pond (0031-The Gossazd pond was dredged of sediment. <br />Gulch A. Pond (0041-The Gulch A pond received no maintenance. <br />Stoker Pond (0051-The Stoker pond received no maintenance. <br />Rail Loon Pond (0061-The Loop pond received no maintenance. <br />Pro~pgCt Pond (0071-The Prospect pond received no maintenance. <br />West Pit Pond (0081 -The West Pit pond was dredged of sediment. The painted, steel fencepost <br />mazkers located on the hillslope above and south of the pond indicate no further evidence of <br />instability. The small french drain placed on this same slope to drain a small elevated perched <br />water zone associated with a roll in a thin coal seam is also functioning as designed. <br />Section 16 Pond (0091-The Section 16 pond received some additional maintenance by completing <br />the spreading of the minor amounts of sediment located at the inlets onto cut slopes remaining after <br />initial pond construction. <br />East Taylor Pond {0101-The East Taylor pond was cleaned of sediment. <br />Washbav Sediment Sumn -The sediment sump was dredged of sediment. No additional repairs <br />were necessary. <br />Warehouse /Washbav Pond -The waehouse pond received no maintenance. <br />In summary, all ponds aze functioning as designed and there is no evidence suggesting potential <br />failure at any of the ponds. <br />• <br />8 <br />
