By dividing the soil available by the azea requiring soil replaced, we arrive at the 2002 soil balance thickness
of 0.7 fee[ for the tie-across haul road and 1.38 feet for the mine area. By this calculation we have
determined that SCC has ample topsoil in stockpiles [o reclaim the mine at [his point.
REVEGETATION
Seeding and Planting
Areas along access road and topsoil stockpile 'R' reclaimed areas were seeded.
Shrub Seedling Planting
SCC established a new shrub site near east end of `A' pit. The site was prepared by roughening the soil with
a small dozer push ups in an attempt to increase snow water retention.
See Table 00.2 for species and quantities.
Monitoring
ESCO Associates, Inc conducted revegetation monitoring of permanently revegetated areas during the
summer of 2002. The 2002 annual revegetation monitoring report is submitted as a separate document
(ESCO and SCC, 2003).

Weed Control
Survey of noxious weeds was carried out on the mine permit area during the 2002 field season. Weed
control activities were conducted along the mine entrance road, near Pond 005, Pond 006 and Pond 009.
Canada thistle (Cirsium arvense was the target species in control aeeas. The applied herbicide consisted of
a tank mix of 2.5 gallons of 22K Tordon and 2.5 gallons of 2,4,-D with 250 gallons of water. A spot spray
gun was used [o concentrate control activities on target areas. The herbicide mix was deternined from
Colorado State University extension office information and label instructions. All pesticides were applied by
an EPA certified applicator. These weed control areas will be monitored in 2003 [o determine the
effectiveness of this treatment.
Wildlife Monitoring
Reporting of eagle nesting and big game (deer and elk) mortality data for the Seneca Il-W survey area and a
big game aerial survey is required per Rule 2.04.13 and Permit C-82-057, Tab 23, Page 4. Deer and elk
mortality data for [he mine entrance road, tie-across haul road, and Rout[ County Road 53 are presented in
Table 00.4. More 2002 big game aerial survey data, raptor nesting data, and wildlife monitoring discussion
is presented in the Wildlife Monitoring Report.
l J
4
