Proper fencing, warning signs, and other precautionary
measures, as necessary, shall be implemented.
G. Comply with the requirements of the Site Health and Safety Plan for Construction
Activities.
1.6 DUST AND SEDIMENT CONTROL
A. Contractor shall take adequate precautions to avoid dust emission resulting from
earthwork.
B. Contractor shall control release of sediment from excavated areas to limit sediment
loading to local creeks, and gulches.
1.7 QUALITY CONTROL
A. Contractor shall use an adequate number of skilled workers experienced in the type
of work to be performed.
B. Contractor or Owner shall employ the services of an independent geotechnical
laboratory to perform quality control testing for earthwork as specified herein.
Engineer or its Representative may perform periodic quality assurance testing.
C. Nuclear densometer testing of compacted soils in accordance with ASTM D2922
or sand-cone testing in accordance with ASTM D1556 to confirm in-place
compacted density and moisture of fill materials as compared either with ASTM
D698 (Standard Proctor Compaction Curve), or ASTM D1557 (Mod Proctor
Compaction Curve) will be performed by either the Engineer or Engineers
representative. The minimum field density test frequency will be one test per 500
cubic yards of compacted fill, with at least one test for each lift of material
compacted in the pond embankment or at the discretion of the engineer in the field.
Any area that fails to meet the compaction acceptance criteria shall be reworked
until a subsequent test shows acceptable results.
D. Contractor shall perform construction surveys, as needed, to ensure that the lines
and grades of all excavations, embankments, ponds, ditches, and graded surfaces
are in accordance with the design requirements.
E. The Engineer will perform periodic quality assurance monitoring. Contractor shall
cooperate, as required, in quality assurance monitoring.
The dimensions and grades of the tailings pond, diversion ditches and channels
shall be verified by survey, prior to installation of any geosynthetics.
PART 2 MATERIALS
2.1 CONSTRUCTION FILL
' Ja646115PEC5FNL.WP~
Earthwork
02200-2
