1 <br />' Honeywood Coal Company <br />1992 Annual Hydrologic Report <br />t Page 2 <br />Naturita Creek is the receiving stream for the drainages from the <br />central and eastern portion of the permit area. This creek <br />' typically flows year round. Three monitoring points are located <br />along Naturita Creek. Two points are upstream N-1 and N-lA and one <br />point downstream N-2. Discharge point N-lA will replace point N-1 <br />' effective in 1993. Naturita Creek had flow all year. <br />Sarinas <br />' Six springs a located adjacent to the mining area. SP-1, located <br />in Long Draw has had flow recorded in 4 of 12 calendar quarters <br />that monitoring data is available. The maximum flow was 1.5 gpm. <br />' During 1992, SP-1 was damp with no recorded flow. <br />SP-2 located in Section 33 Creek has had flow recorded in 3 of 12 <br />' calendar quarters that monitoring data is available. The maximum <br />flow was 1 gpm. During 1992, SP-2 was damp the first and second <br />quarters and dry the last two quarters of the year. <br />SP-3 located in Bramiers Draw has not had any recorded flow in four <br />years of monitoring data. The spring has been noted as a seep <br />during the first quarter of 1989 and damp the second quarter of <br />' 1992. <br />SP-4 located in Bramiers Draw has not had any recorded flow in four <br />' years of monitoring data. The spring has been noted as a seep <br />during the first and fourth quarters of 1989 and dry during all <br />subsequent monitoring. <br />' SP-5 also located in Bramiers Draw has not had any recorded flow in <br />four years of monitoring data. The spring has been noted as a seep <br />during the first quarter of 1989 and dry during all subsequent <br />' monitoring. <br />SP-6 also located in Bramiers Draw has been monitored during eight <br />' calendar quarters. During two of the quarters, flow was measured <br />with the maximum flow being 2 gpm. The spring was noted as dry <br />only once during the fourth quarter of 1991. During 1992, SP-6 was <br />' a pool during the first quarter, damp during the second and third <br />quarters and noted as frozen during the fourth quarter. <br />Alluvial Wells <br />' Four alluvial wells, AW-4 & AW-5, AW-6 & AW-7 were installed to <br />determine if the quality of water in the alluvium near the alluvial <br />' valley floor near the San Miguel River is impacted by the mining <br />operation. Two wells are located along Bramiers Draw AW-4 6 AW-5 <br />and two are installed along Naturita Creek AW-6 & AW-7. The wells <br />' in each drainage, are located up gradient and down gradient of the <br />Reed Chatfield irrigation ditch. The quality of water in the <br />i1 <br />
