The up-gradient wells were completed with water quality samplers in July, 1990
and may show residual effects of prior completion problems from 1980-1990.
Water quality results indicate Dissolution Surface and B-Groove data similar to
wells immediately down-gradient. But the A-Groove and Perched aquifer
monitoring wells reflect a mixture of water from deeper aquifers. Tables 6-6, 6-7,
6-8 and 6-9 present historical summary of water quality data through 1992 water
year. No significant water quality changes were noted during 1992 to indicate
mining effects.
Pressure transducers were installed in November, 1990 with data acquisition unit
on line in February, 1991 for water level monitoring. An obstruction in IRI-1,
probably sand and bentonite from water sampler completion, has limited water
level data collection, but was corrected late 1992. Water level data shown on
Figure 6-6 indicate pumpage effect on the A-Groove, with Figure 6-7 illustrating
stabilized water levels. Figure 6-8 illustrates status following extended operations.
The following table summarizes potentiometric water level data ifrom ground
surface) for monitoring wells up-dip of solution mining activity:
1990 1991 1991 1992
Significant March September November
A uifer Pumpaae ~umoape Low oumoage Ext. The Dissolution Surface has low volumes
of water and WRNM water quality sampling can be noted in the data. An
59
