Box 772129
Steamboat Springs, Colorado 80477
Att: Mr. Mike Kondelis
Subject: Quarterly Inspection
Excess Spoil Disposal Area I
Eckman Park Facility
Job No. 8569A
Gentlemen:
At your request, we made an inspection of excess spoil disposal Area I
on October 7, 1982• No spoil was being placed in the disposal area at
the time of our investigation and the top of the pile had been raised
very little since our previous inspection of June 1982. Haulage access
roads on the pile itself had been filled and the outslopes graded to
their design configurations. Topsoil was being placed along the out-
slopes. The Coal Company informed us that placement of spoil in this
area has essentially been completed. We were also informed that inter-
mediate slope benches had been graded to drain toward the inslope of the
pile. Benches have been graded to direct runoff toward the back or
east end of the pile where spoil abuts the natural ground surface. The
top of the pile was being graded to eliminate low spots which could result
in ponding of water. There was no evidence of slope failures at the time
of our inspection.
If we can be of further service in discussing the contents of this letter,
or our observations, please call.
Very truly yours, :.~::;.
CTL/THOMPSON, IN
,- ~
By ~. ~ ~ 1 31 !~' fa
iam C. ` f ann,Jr. , P.
