Box 518 <br />Somerset, Colorado 81434 <br />RE: Subsidence and Slope Stability Monitoring Report: <br />Bear Mine No. 3, C-81-033 <br />Dear Mr. Springer: <br />The Division has reviewed the report submitted by UTE Engineering and <br />Surveying Company regarding subsidence and slope stability monitoring. The <br />report, received January 17, 1989, presents a clear and accurate summary of <br />survey data from the subsidence and slope stability monuments at the <br />Bear No. 2 and No. 3 mine sites. The subsidence monuments demonstrate an <br />average of 3/4 's of afoot in vertical drop. The slope stability monuments <br />placed at the reclaimed portal area of Bear No, 2 and the active surface <br />facility area of Bear No. 3 all show movements of less than a few hundreths of <br />afoot, indicating that both areas remain stable. <br />If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me. <br />Sincerely, <br />Matthew S.
