,
• -25 -
' SURFACE DRAINAGE

' Satisfactory performance of structural elements will depend in
part on controlled moisture conditions. The following drainage pre-
' cautions should be observed during construction and maintained at all
times after the structure has been completed:
' 1. Excessive wetting or drying of the foundation or floor slab
excavation should be avoided during construction. This may
' t
i
di
require
emporary construct
on of berms to
vert surface
' waters or if seeps are encountered within the higher portion
of the site construction of a te~orary dewatering system.
' 2. Backfill around the structures should to moistened and
compacted to at least 958 of standard Proctor density. If
' buried structures are hackfilled with relatively clean soils,
the upper 2 feet should consist of on-site clays to reduce
potential for surfarn infiltration.
3. The ground surface surrounding the perimeter of the strur
tures should be sloped to drain away from the structures in
all directions. Swales may 6e required on the uphill side.
4. Roof runoff and any drains should discharge well beyond the
' limits of all backfill.
' BUILDING PADS FOR FtTPURE CONSTRUCTION
' We understand that building sites for the mine office and change
house, shop/warehouse, substation and administration building and
' parking will be constructed. The following procedures are recommended
' for grading:
