FHZST HALF 1997 SUBSIDENCE SURVEY REPORT
Survey Data
During the first half of 1997, subsidence survey data was collected periodically from
established monuments on Routt County Road 33 (CR 33), the Hayden -Gore Pass
Power Line, and the Wolcott Tap -Wolcott Power Line in those azeas underlain by gate
roads or panel centers during periods of active Longwall mining.
A summary of the survey data collected for stations MONI - MONS on CR 33 during the
tirs[ half of 1997 is provided in Table 1. These monuments were initially set and
surveyed on April 29, 1996. Monuments MON 1 and MON 2 were located over the 10
Right Gateroad and 9 Right Longwall Panel center and were only surveyed once during
the first half of 1997. The monuments over 9 Right Gateroad, 8 Right Longwall Panel
center, and 8 Right Gateroad were surveyed in February, and then weekly during active
mining under the road during April and May. MON4 was subsided by 4.68 feet from the
initial survey due to mining of the 8 Right Longwall Panel,
Prisms were set on legs of the metal stntctures of the Hayden-Gore Pass power poles at
S 1, S2A, S2B, S2C, S2D, and S3 and an initial survey performed on September 30, 1996.
• Daily surveys were conducted from November 4, 1996 through January 29, 1997.
Weekly surveys were conducted from February, 1997 through the end of April, 1997,
then once in June, 1997 and once in July, 1997. Table 2 provides a summary of the
survey data collected for the first half of 1997.
The Wolcott Tap -Wolcott survey data for the first half of 1997 is summarized in Table
3. Prisms were set on power poles at W1, WIA, W4, W4A, W6, and W6A and initially
surveyed on September 30, 1997. Daily surveys were conducted from November 4, 1996
through January 29. 1997. Weekly surveys were conducted from February, 1997 through
the end of April, 1997, then once in June, 1997 and once in July, 1997.
Foidel Creek was surveyed after the 9 Right Longwall Panel subsidence and the profile
provided in the Second Half 1996 Subsidence Report. Foidel Creek will be surveyed
again in the Fall of 1997 to develop a profile of the creek showing the subsidence effects
due to the mining of the 8 Right Longwall Panel. This profile will be included in the
Second Half 1997 Subsidence Report.
[I. Structures
Structures affected during the first half 1997 reporting period include CR 33, the Yampa
Walley Electric Association (YVEA) power line, the Union Pacific Railroad track, the
Hayden -Gore Pass power line, the Wolcott Tap -Wolcott power line, and the Western
Area Power Administration power line.
