STERLING READY•MIX CcONC(2ETE CO.
STERLING, COLORADO 80751 RECEIVED
FEB 1 9 1991
February 11, 1991
Minec'Land
Reclamation Division
Mrs. Barbara Chiappone
Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Board
1313 Sherman Street Suite 215
Denver, Colorado 80203-2273
Dear Mrs. Chiappone:
Re: Annual Report, Sterling Ready-Mix Concrete Co., Inc.,
Riverside Pit MLR No. M-76-056
Our files indicate that the anniversary date for this permit
is February 22, 1991. During this year we were awarded a contract
to supply material for an interstate 76 job near Proctor, Colo-
rado. To meet the contract specifications we had to move into
Stage III ,where a courser material was available. We are current-
ly working on a modification to the mining plan for this pit and
will have it submitted by the end of February, 1991
We will deal specifically with each of the Annual Report
questions as outlined in Section 2.41 of the Rules an:9 Regula-
tions.
2.4.1
(1) We continued to mine in Stage I where previously disturbed.
Mining was within the existing lake area and not associated
with the bank areas. During the summer of 1990 we obtained a
contract to supply gravel for the Interstate 76 job bear
Proctor, Colorado. As we started to mine the material in
Stage I we found it did not contain adequate quantities of
course material. We tested Stages II and III and f~>und that
the best material for our needs was on the southern end of
Stage III. We stripped approximately 10.97 acres nn Stages
II and III, this area is shown on the map as the disturbance
areas in those stages. We then dredged the area leaving a
5.10 ac ± lake.
As is typical with this pit we encountered a large amount of
waste sand, mixed with the gravel. We eventually use this
sand for other purposes or use it to establish underwater
J `~l
~1~
