Water spray bars are in operation and are installed at dust producing points.
Water trucks continue to spray the stockpiles, the stockpile areas and the
quarry floor, as well as those areas which have been revegetated. Most
access roads have been paved eliminating the need for watering on the quarry
access roads. asphalt Paving Co. continues to stay abreast of the latest
technology on methods of dust control. In the event of extreme wind
conditions, asphalt Paving Co. continues to shut down its entire crushing
operation.
A report identifying the crushing days of operation and identifying all days
on which the detonation of blasting materials within 200' of ground surface
is included in this annual report.
This report also includes summaries on: transportation, seismic monitoring,
and reclamation. We would request that all the information contained herein
remain confidential.
Hydrology: We are not aware of any adverse impacts of the operation on the
hydrologic cycle. There is no significant erosion problem and any
sedimentation collected has been reused in topsoil applications to sustain
new plant life.
Complaints: Any complaints directed specifically to asphalt Paving Co. c:ill
• be dealt with properly and in a timely- manner so es to eliminate any poten-
tial problems that may- arise. This Company- recognizes its responsibility- to
constantly' be aware of any and all suggested methods for improvement and
pledges its continued best effort for a professional operation.
TRUCK MOVEMENTS/MATERIAL MOVEMENT
Historically, the significant trucking activity commences late spring, around
May and escalates and intensifies through the summer and fall; tailing off
and diminishing by the end of November. This repetitive pattern is
influenced by the economy and its relationship to work load and, of course,
the weather. This past year saw improvement in our quarry workload. This
escalated activity had a direct bearing on the quantity- of material delivered
and has precipitated working the full year.
Keeping in mind the above with regard to truck movements, little is done to
alter the normal truck traffic flow when the total truck traffic impact is
acceptable. However, when trucks "bunch" leaving the quarry during peak
traffic periods between 7:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. to X1:30 p.m.,
they are specifically- routed (split North and Southl to minimize traffic
impact, especially during school days involving bus loading and unloading.
As a matter of policy, trucks are split North and South on Highway 93 during
peak trucking periods in an effort to mitigate total impact to traffic in the
area. It should be noted, however, that as a result of the upgrades and
improvements to Highway 93 previously addressed, our truck traffic has had
little impact on the present traffic flow using the highway.
•
