In the process of constructing the realigned access road to the new scale, a
new detention pond was created. This new pond is much larger (more capacity)
than the old one, which has subsequently been filled in. This new pond will
accommodate much more site runoff and has thereby reduces our exposure to
site runoff as a result of an extreme weather situation.
In our continuing effort to improve and become more efficient, we have
constructed an overhead aggregate load-out system. This system inc'olo~es new
ground conveyors, an elevating conveyor and storage silos. The silos have
been erected over the new truck scale. This system saves truck travel around
the quarry and loader travel between the many stockpiles "chasing the
trucks". This not only reduces fugitive dust generated by the "quarry
traffic" but also reduces exhaust emissions as well.
Water Turbidity: Water turbidity testing is continuing under the laboratory
analysis work of Coors Spectro Chemical Laboratories when applicable. If and
when turbidity tests are run, the results are forwarded to the Denver Water
Board. Be advised that no testing was done this past year due to the lack of
any circumstsnces requiring such testing. There are no new water sources
used either for mining or reclamation. Any new sources will be identified
upon their use. It is important to note that Asphalt Paving Co. has not
received any negative comments regarding water from the Denver Water
Department.
• As previously reported, Asphalt Paving Co. and the Denver Water Board
consummated a water purchase agreement allowing water to be obtained from
Upper Long Lake for our activities at Ralston Quarry. A water line from the
lake to the crushing and processing areas in the quarry was installed and is
in use. This water line allows uninterrupted water acquisition from a
completely controlled source. This, in turn, enables Asphalt Paving Co. to
insure water distribution throughout the quarry operation. This facility
provides complete control of the needed water to operate Ralston Quarry.
Air Quality: Asphalt Paving Co. continues to recognize its obligation to
comply with the applicable air quality standards and regulations set by the
Colorado Air Quality Control Commission. Asphalt Paving Co. holds all
appropriate permits which have been issued for its operation and is in
compliance with State standards. We have not received any air quality
violation notices from any agencies. Our superintendent is instructed to
notify Jefferson County if he anticipates any "upset" conditions.
Hours of Operation: The hours of operation 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday
through Saturday, with only repair work permitted on Sunday, continues to be
the rule of our operations. No complete crusher system has been operated
prior to 6:00 a.m. or after 6:00 p.m. All crushers, screening plants and
conveyors are of the portable type. All efforts have been made by in-house
maintenance personnel to provide our equipment with the latest noise
suppression equipment.
C J
