The
rematmng road segments have been sized as permanent and temporary light-use roads,
respectively, for post-reclamation access. The reclaimed road areas (approximately 6.3
acres) were seeded with the permanent reclamation seed mixture in October 1996. With
reclamation of portions of the main haul road and Bush Draw access road, remaining road
disturbance areas total approximately 5.7 acres. No additional road disturbance or
reclamation has occurred subsequent to 1996.
5.0 TOPSOILING AND REVEGETATION
Pit 1 and associated roads (approximately 61.1 acres), those areas reclaimed as a result of
reductions in the width of haul and access road areas (approximately 6.3 acres), and the
Sedimentation Pond A, B, C, and D embankments, (approximately 2.8 acres) as shown on
the 1996 Reclamation Map, (Map has not been revised and included with this report since
there has been no change since 1996), were topsoiled and seeded with a mulch crop during
1995. Reclamation of these areas was completed with final seeding of the permanent
revegetation seed mixture during October, 1996. In addition to final reclamation seeding of
reclaimed areas, two areas along the reclaimed easement of the old County road
(approximately 2.5 acres) were reseeded to enhance vegetative reestablishment. Areas seeded
during 1996 totaled 72.7 acres. During July, 7997 selec[ive spraying n~as completed to
control and eliminate minor infestations of Canadian/musk thistle. Sprayed areas will be
inspected next spring to evaluate weed control success and re-sprayed as necessary to assure
effective control.
6.0 DRAINAGE AND SEDIMENT CONTROL
No new ponds, ditches, or other drainage and sediment control structures were constructed
during 1997 and no existing drainage and sediment control structures were modified or
removed. The disturbance area associated with existing unreclaimed areas of the
sedimentation ponds and other drainage and sediment control structures is approximately
19.1 acres.
During 1997 Kerr completed routine maintenance on existing drainage and sediment control
structures, including inspection of all ponds, ditches, and culverts and cleaning of ditches and
culverts as necessary to remove any excess accumulations of sediment or debris and maintain
effective function.
7.0 TOPSOIL STOCKPILE
No topsoil recovery or replacement activities occurred during 1997, therefore, none of the
remaining topsoil stockpiles were disturbed. The six remaining topsoil stockpiles as shown
on the 1996 Reclamation Map, cover approximately 5.8 acres.
8.0 SURFACE FACILITIES
As shown on the 1996 Reclamation Map, disturbance associated with the remaining surface
facilities totals approximately 13.8 acres.
M ~l51\96RE~ 0.18
I/]/9B ilr
