<br />' , DIVISION 1 -GENERAL REQUIREMENTS <br />SECTION 01160 -SITE CONDITIONS <br />i <br />PART 1 -SITE INVESTIGATIONS AND REPRESENTATION <br />1.01 GENERAL <br />The Contractor acknowledges that he has satisfied himself as to the nature and location of the work, <br />the general and focal conditions, particularly those bearing upon access to the site; handling, storage, <br />and disposal of materials; availability of water, electricity, and roads; uncertainties of weather, river <br />' stages, or similar physical conditions at the site; the conformation and conditions of the ground; the <br />equipment and facilities needed preliminary to and during the execution of the work; and all other <br />matters which can in any way affect the work. <br />1.02 SITE CONDITIONS <br />The Contractor further acknowledges that he has satisfied himself as to the character, quality and <br />quantity of surface and subsurface materials to be encountered from his inspection of the site and <br />from reviewing any available records of exploratory work furnished by the Owner or included in <br />these Documents. Failure by the Contractor to acquaint himself with the physical conditions of the <br />site and all the available information will not relieve him from responsibility far properly estimating <br />the difficulty or cost of successfully performing the work. <br />1.03 WARRANTEE <br />The Contractor warrants that as a result of hls examination and investigation of all the aforesaid data <br />that he can perform the work in a good and workmanlike manner. <br />PART 2 -INFORMATION ON SITE CONDITIONS <br />2.01 AVAILABILITY <br />Any information obtained by the Engineer regarding site conditions, subsurface information, <br />groundwater elevations, existing construction of site facilities, and similar data will be available for <br />inspection, as applicable, at the office of the Engineer upon request. Such information is offered as <br />supplementary information only. The Engineer does not assume responsibility for the completeness <br />or interpretation of such supplementary information. <br />A. Differing Subsurface Conditions <br />1. In the event that the subsurface or latent physical conditions are found materially <br />different from those indicated in these Documents, and differing materially from <br />those ordinarily encountered and generally recognized as inherent in the character <br />of work covered in the Plans and Specifications, the Contractor shall promptly, and <br />before such conditions are disturbed, notify the Engineer in writing of such changed <br />conditions. <br />' 2. The Engineer will investigate such conditions promptly and following this <br />investigation, the Contractor shall proceed with the work, unless otherwise <br />instructed by the Engineer. <br />07/97 Section 01160 -Page 1 of 3 <br />
