PERMIT ANNIVERSARY <br /> PORTLAND QUARRY PERMIT NO. 77-344 <br /> ------------------------------------------------------ <br /> FREMONT COUNTY, COLORADO <br /> IDEAL BASIC INDUSTRIES, INC. <br /> On March 24 , 1988 , Governor Roy Romer, on behalf of the Colorado <br /> Mined Land Reclamation Board presented the Portland Quarry with <br /> an Award in recognition of the reclamation effort at the Portland <br /> Quarry. This is indeed an honor, for the Quarry , the Portland <br /> Plant and Ideal Basic Industries . Sincere thanks are extended to <br /> all of the Mined Land Reclamation people . <br /> The status of the mining areas follow: <br /> 1 . Location and Number of Acres Affected During the Year. <br /> There has been no change in acreage affected since 1987 . <br /> Shown below is a summary of the areas . <br /> Total Permitted Area 1526 Acres <br /> Current Affected Area, Bonded 330 . 25 Acres <br /> Minor Disturbance, Seeded, ready for <br /> seeding, and receiving sewer sludge . 146 . 25 Acres <br /> Moderate Disturbance, Stabilized waste, <br /> roads , overburden and working areas . 94 Acres <br /> Major Disturbance , active quarry areas . 90 Acres <br /> Cut 1 Sewer sludge being spread on this area except the <br /> topsoil stockpile at the north end. Most of the road <br /> areas are covered with topsoil . Seed has been <br /> requisitioned for the topsoil stockpile and the <br /> former road areas . <br /> Cut 2 The seeding on the east side of this cut doing well <br /> especially since the sewer sludge has been applied. <br /> A haul road has been placed over part of the refuse <br /> dump and the dump will be extended to the south as <br /> required. <br /> Cut 3 Work will commence on a perimeter road later this year <br /> that will allow topsoil covering of the haul road <br /> through the center of this area . As in Cut 1 , grass <br /> seed has been requisitioned for reclamation of those <br /> areas left open for haul roads . <br /> Cut 4 Access to the bottom of the eastern portion has been <br /> eliminated to permit kiln dust dumping and placement <br /> of overburden materials from cut # 6 . The western half <br /> of this cut has been filled with overburden. <br />
