• included in Table 8 in Appendix 2. Seed mixes applied on areas revegetated in
years 1991 through 1993 are included for reference in Appendix 3. Site data
from sample transacts (orientation, slope, aspect, and initials of samplers) are
included as Table 9 in Appendix 4.
In the cover. descriptions below, species listed as "also present' were not "hit"
during point-intercept sampling but were present within one meter on either
side of the 50 m sample transact line. Cover percentages referred to in the
following results as "percent of total vegetation cover" are relative vegetation
values.
1991/1993 Reclaimed Area (Photographs 1 through 4)
• Cover (Table 1)
Native perennial cool season grass was the dominant lifeform in this area and
provided 69.9 percent of total vegetation cover. Mountain brome (Ceratbchloa
carinata) and Agassiz bluegrass (Poa agassizensis) each contributed
approximately one-third of this total. Slender wheatgrass (Elymus
trachycaulus) was also an important contributor. Thickspike wheatgrass
(Elymus /anceolatus fm. dasystachya), Colorado sheep fescue (Festuca
brachyphylla ssp. coloradensis), basin wildrye (Leymus cinereus), green
needlegrass (Nassella viridula), western wheatgrass (Pascopyrum smithiQ,
Canada bluegrass (Poa compressa), and Sandberg bluegrass (Poa secunda)
were relatively minor contributors. Native perennial fortis averaged 6.6 percent
of total vegetation cover.. Blue flax (Adenolinum IewisiQ and Rocky Mountain
penstemon (Penstemon strictus) were the dominant species in this lifeform.
Two-groove milkvetch (Astragalus bisulcatus) and erect gumweed (Grindelia
• fastigiata) were minor contributors.
