Hydromulching and cover cropping are discussed above under permanent and temporary
revegetation.
Revegetation monitoring was not conducted at the Seneca [1-W mine in 1991.
Survey or control of noxious weEds was carried out in the areas shown on Exhibit 91.3.
Because of the extensive nature of the 1991 weed control activities and the occurence of
numerous scattered spot control areas, specific sites which were sprayed are not shown.
Those areas where control activities were more extensive are highlighted on Exhibit 91.3.
Canada thistle (Cirsium arvense) was the target species in control areas. The applied
herbicide consisted of a tank mix of 2.5 gallons of 22K Tordon and 2.5 gallons of 2, 4-D
amine with 250 gallons of water. A spot spray gun was used to concentrate control
activities on target areas. The herbicide mix, based on Colorado State Extension Service
recommendations was mixed and applied under the supervision of a certified applicator.
Weed control areas will be monitored in 1992.

7
