• dominate the reclaimed areas.
The species diversity standard for the Range Sites A and C in the Mine Pemut commits Trapper to
establish a reclaimed plant community composed of at least five species including a minimrum of form
perennial cool season grasses and one fort specie possessing a relative importance value of equal to or
greater than 3 percent relative cover. No single species will contribute in excess of 50 percent relative
cover and no four species will contribute more than 80 percent of the total relative cover on the site. The
Cropland Reclamation Block has no species diversity standard
Statistical Analysis of Data. As required by the Division's proposed regulations, it is not necessary to
achieve sample adequacy for reclamation monitoring corresponding to the Phase III bond release
sampling efforts provided that at least 30 cover, production and shrub density 1 ransects were sampled.
and that the success standard was achieved. Therefore, all of the data collected in this evaluation were
analyzed for sample adequacy in order to detemrine whether the Division's requirements had been
satisfied.
On the for>r areas sampled, all of the field data were analyzed in terms of "allowable cover" to determine
whether sample adequacy was achieved prior to leaving the site being sampled. On the Reclamation
Blocks sampled for production and slrnrb density, the maximum sample size of 30 samples, as
recommended in the Division's proposed Guidelines was sampled and the data were analyzed for sample
adequacy and revegetation success.
• ~+ SULK
Field Sampling Dates. All of the data utilized in this evaluation were collected between Jrure 23 and July
31, 2004. At the time of the field sampling, most of the plants were actively growing and it is believed
that the sampling wus perfomred close to the period of optimum plant growth, when the plant cover and
production was near its peak. A total of 91 plant species were identified inthe 40 cover trarrsects and 30
shrub density trarrsec.~ts sampled in this evalt>ation. A list of all of the plant species encorurterecl in the field
sampling efforts in this evaluation is presented in Table 1, Trapper Mine Plant Species List.
Sample Adequacy. A statistical analysis of the data collected to characterize the plant wver,
production, and shmb density is presented in Table 2, Trapper Mine Sample Adequacy Calculations. This
comparison documents that a sufficient number of samples were collected to describe the parameters of
"allowable" plant cover, production and shrub density at the 90 percent confidence interval or until the
required standazd was satisfied as required by the Division's Regulations for all of the areas evaluated
Tr-ansect Locations. All of the cover, production and shmb density transects sampled in this evaluation
fiom the four different areas sampled are shown on the enclosed maps. The locations of the 137
production transec;ts sampled in the two Cropland areas along with the 20 cover and 30 production
trar>sects sampled for Rangeland Reclamwaation Block AC&D-Care shown on Map 1, Cropland
Reclamation -Vegetation Trausect Location Map. The locations ofthe 20 cover, 30 production and 30
shnrb density trarsec~ts sampled in the Rangeland Reclamation Block AD&H-AB are shown on Map 2,
Rangeland Reclamation -Vegetation Transect Location Map.
•
