Kerr Coal - 2004 Annua! Hydrology Report
7.0 LOADOUT AREA SURFACE WATER
February, 2005
Two loadout surface water sites (319 and 320) were monitored weekly from March through June, then
monthly through September, 2004. There was no recorded dischazge from Site 319. There was dischazge
from Site 320 from June 15 to July 1, 2004 ranging from 0.5 to 1.5 cfs. The 1.5 cfs readings were the highest
flows historically recorded for this site. No flow was observed afrer July 1 at Station 320. The sedimentation
pond associated with Site 320 filled during spring runoff and retained some water through September. Site
monitoring locations are shown on Map 2, Loadout Area Monitoring Stationt.
As of January 1999, the monitoring program for surface discharge points was reduced to monthly monitoring
for a parameter list including only flow, temperature, pH, settleable solids, and oil and grease. For Site 320,
only the field measurements (flow, temperature and pH) aze required for monitoring. This data is contained
in Appendix A, 2004 Field Data. The historic flow data for the Loadout is presented on Table 6, 2004 Surface
mater Data - Loadout Area Surface Statzonr. Figure 6, Flow and pH -Station 320, shows the variation in flow
and associated pH reading at Station 320 for all historic flows measured.
Surface water sites 316, 317, and 318 were dropped from monitoring as of October 1999. No data was
collected from these sites during the 2004 water yeaz.
TABLE 6
2004 SURFACE WATER DATA
LOADOUT AREA SURFACE STATIONS
05/13/02 06/05/02 06N3/02 06/19/02 SN5/03 5121/03 528103 6115/04 6123/04 711/04
STATION 319
Flow Rate cfs No Flow No Flow No Flow No Flow No Flow No Flow No Flow No Flow No Flow No Flow
Tem nature C
H -field s.u.
EC-field umhos/cm
Oil & Grease
Settl~ble Solids

STATION 320
Flow Rate cfs 0.20 0.15 0.05 0.05 0.50 1.00 0.50 0.50 1.50 1.50
Tem nature C 12 12 17 15 13 14 22 13 78 17
H -field s.u. 8.1 8.0 6.0 7.8 6.0 6.0 8.1 8.0 8.0 8.0
EC-field umhos/cm 300 400 300 300 400 400 300 400 200 200
