Ken' Coal - 2004 Annual Hydrology Report February, 2005
6.0 MINE AREA SURFACE WATER
The sediment ponds (Stations 301, 302, 303, 304, 305, and 321) were monitored weekly from Mazch through
June and montlily during the remaining months through September, 2004. There was some inflow from
snowmelt in Mazch but no outflows. There were no outflows observed in any of the months during this
monitoring period. With slightly below average snow pack and minor spring precipitation, all ponds partially
filled during April and May. Most of the ponds retained some water through October, except for the ponds
associated with Stations 303 and 321, which were dry by July. Due to the no-flow conditions, no field
parameters were measured during the 2004 water yeaz and no additional sampling was conducted. The
recorded measurements and field observations aze contained on the field data logs in Appendix A, 2004 Field
Data.
Surface water sites 300, 306, 322, and 327 were dropped from monitoring as of January 1999 and Station 314
was eliminated from the monitoring program in October 1999. No data was collected from any of these sites
during the 2004 water yeaz.
