BTU-EC provided
descriptions of weed control methods, herbicide used and noxious weed species targeted in the Annual
Reclamation report, No new reclamation was conducted during 2006, but clean up of mine facilities,
Brawl-Simms building, removal of scrap and old equipment, and maintenance of sediment ponds and
ditches was conducted during 2006.
The Annual Reclamation Report indicates that the frequency of surface and ground water monitoring has
been increased to provide updated hydrologic information, but [he report does not indicate whether or not
the increased hydrologic sampling is in compliance with Exhibit 29. BTU Empire collected vegetation data
in 2006 in the Williams Fork strip mine area in anticipation of a phase III bond release application. As
stated in Appendix D, anticipation of application for a phase III bond release would trigger reversion to the
active water monitoring schedule.
The ARR acreage summary report was correctly filled out and shows no changes to reclaimed acreage from
2005.
Thank you for the timely submittal of the Annual Reclamation Repot. No additional information is
needed for this 2006 Annual Reclamation Report. The 2006 Annual Hydrology Report is due by March 30,
2007.
Sincerely,
Janet FI.
