First,
most areas that were spot seeded very likely did not need fertilization.
Second, we are attempting to assess the differences on certain materials
between the application of fertilizer and seeding without fertilization.
We feel there is very likely a difference, but are attempting to
determine whether or not the benefits are worth the expense of
application. It may be that in the long run (after several years) the
differences are minor.
RULE 2.41(6): AN APPRAISAL OF THE SUCCESS OF RECLAMATION EFFORTS, AND
IN THE EVENT OF FAILURE OF ANY EFFORTS, A SHORT NARRATIVE ON THE
SUSPECTED OR DETERMINED CAUSE OF SUCH FAILURE.
Responses to this item are broken into several sections which deal
with each area in particular.
ACCESS ROAD: The growth on the cut slopes of the access road is truly
remarkable. In fact, several parties in the Colorado Springs area have
inquired as to how it was done. Although some minor rill erosion has
shown itself on the slopes, it does not appear to be getting much worse.
In places the grass and legume is so dense that it forms nearly a lawn.
In other places, especially where the soil is more gravelly, it is not
so dense, but still strong enough to provide some protection.
3
