4.0 2005 PROJECT ACTIVITIES
4.1 On-Site Facilities and Process Description
4.1.1 General Arrangement
Figure 2-1 and 2-1A illustrate location of project leases and mining area.
4.1.2 Lab Operation /Sanitation/ ISO
In 2005, activities continued in the lab to provide analysis for process control, quality
assurance, and regulatory requirements. The plant operators performed several crucial
process control analyses. Chloride levels were measured on the #1 product three times per
twelve-hour shift and patch tests were run once per shift to measure insolubles. Pests were
controlled with the use of two UV bug lights, the placement of rodent traps around the interior
walls of the plant, and the utilization of an ultrasonic bird repeller in the warehouse. Semi-
annual GMP/sanitation training was provided for all employees. Mr. Frank Szostek, food safety
auditor with AIB International, performed the annual sanitation audit and the audit resulted in a
"superior" rating. AWWA, FDA, NSF, Kosher, and ISO re-certification were obtained.
4.1.3 Process
No significant changes were made to the process system. The two major projects were the
replacement of the 4" hydro clone system with a new stainless steel system and the
replacement of the centrifuge. Another major improvement was the replacement of the old
water softening system with the new one. Several minor improvements included: a monorail
used to install the centrifuge, repairs to the plant roof, new doors installed to replace the broken
ones, a stainless steel clad chute installed between #2 and #3 tanks, dock locks installed on the
loading dock and the installation of a new heat exchanger in place of the old #1 heat
exchanger.
