<br />The material shall be graded within the following items: <br />U.S. Standard Sieve Percent Passing <br />or Screen Ocenina By Weieht <br />I inch 100 <br />3/4 inch 90-100 <br />' No, 4 35-65 <br />No. 15 15-40 <br />No. 200 2-10 <br />' In addition, the fines (minus No. 200 sieve size) shall be nonplastic. <br />6.4 Sump Gravel Type 6 Material <br />' Sump gravel shall consist of a clean, poorly graded, rounded gravel, such as "pea gravel." The <br />material shall be a 3/8 inch minus with less than 2 percent passing the -200 sieve size. The <br />gravel shall be placed as shown on the drawings within the leak detection sump. Other materials <br />larger than 3/8 inch may be approved by the engineer if all other requirements are met. <br />6.5 Pipe Bedding Type 7 Material <br />' Pipe bedding material shall be placed to the lines and grades as shown on the drawings. The <br />material shall be placed as a bedding for CMP and ADS culverts. The material 9ha11 be a clean <br />finely graded sand, such as concrete sand. <br />6.6 MoiStttre Control <br />6.6.1 General <br />' During compaction operations, the materials being placed and the surface of t!e fill shall be <br />' maintained within the moisture content range required to permit proper compacfion to the <br />specified density with the equipment being used. The moisture content of the fill materials prior <br />to and during compaction shall be uniform throughout each layer of the material. <br />If material spread on the fill is drier than specified for compaction, the Contractor shall spray <br />' water on each layer of the fill and work the moisture into the fill by harrowing or other <br />approved means until a uniform distribution of moisture at the proper content is obtained. <br />-i~ <br />1 <br />
