1999 Water quality parameters for site 303-I (Table 59) are typically within previously established ranges with a
few exceptions. New minimum values were recorded for dissolved calcium, magnesium and sodium; and a ne+v
maximum value +vas recorded fur atnntia-free nitrogen.
MINE WATER DISCHARGE SITES
T+vo mine water discharge sites associated with the TCC operations are monitored. Site 104 requires quarterly
monitoring for Flows, field parameters, and water quality samples, and site I IS is monitored as an NPDES
discharge point in accordance with the requirements set forth under NPDES Permit No. CO-0042161.
Monitoring requirements at both sites were fulfilled during 1999.
Table 64 provides a summary of ttte 1999 Water Year data collected from site 109. Table 64a provides a period
of record statistical summary of collected data at the site. Table 64b presents water meter readings at site 109 for
the 1999 Water Year. Figure 12~ provides a graphical representation of period of record field conductivity for
mine water discharged at site 109.
Dewatering of [he Southwest Mining District through site I I5, suspended in February 1996, was resumed in
August of 1998. 1999 Water Year data for mine water discharge site I I5 is presented on Table 65. Table 6~a
provides the period of record statistical summary. Table 6~c presents water pumping records a[ site I I S for the
1999 Water Year.
NPDES DISCHARGE SITES
Numerous additional NPDES discharge points at TCC operations are monitored throughout the year with
monitoring results subntined to the Division on a periodic basis in accordance with permit requirements. Tables
66 through 71 provide Water Year and period of record data summaries for those NPDES outfall points other
than mine dewarering site 115, which discharged during the year. The reader is referred to the Discharge
Monitoring Reports (DMRs) submitted during the year for additional information regarding specific discharge
occurrences. Applicable permits include No.'s CO-0027154, CO-0036684, and CO-0042161. Figures 128
through 133 provide graphical representations of Water Year flow rate and field conductivity data for Pond D at
the Foidel Creek Mine and for Pond E at the Fish Creek Tipple. Figure 132 depicts period of record total
recoverable iron data for Pond E.
1999 INFLOW SURVEY
• During the 1999 water year the annual inFlow survey was performed during December, and water elevations were
monitored from the Fish Creek Borehole during the period of October 1998 to September 1999.
