Biannual reclamation costs were calculated on the attached sheets.
The reclamation costs have been reduced by approximately one million dollars due to lower soil moving costs.
Based on our experience moving 150,000 cubic yards for $1.24 per cubic yard two years ago, we have reduced the
estimated reclamation costs to $1.50 per cubic yard. Past reclamation estimates have placed these assts at $2.50
per cubic yard. Below is a summary of interim reclamation activities during 1996.
Area I. Mine Site
The main gate area was regraded to improve stormwater runnoff and revegitated with the Climax seed nlix and
evergreen trees.
Area 9. Mill Site Tailine Basin
The tailing water pool elevation increased to 8789, which increased the disturbed acreage to 922 actes. The total
anticipated disturbance through 1997 is estimated at 934 acres. The 153.000 cubic yards of stockpilt:d soil was
seeded during 1996. Two tailing benches on Dam I (about 20 acres) and 2 benches on Dam 3 (abou~. 3 acres) were
resloped to a flatter slope, capped with I2 inches of soil, and seeded. An experiment in bovine reclamation was
started on a three acre plot on Dam 3.
General Mill Site
The Grand County Weed Control agent was retained to provide ongoing noxious weed control
for the Mill site and the Kremmling railhead. This program follows the guidance of and
complies with the Grand County Noxious Weed Control program.
Please call me at (303) 271-0107 ext. 1397 if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
~.Gt-~c-~- ~~~^Ll~
Anne Beierle
Environmental Manager
cr.
