discharge into Sage Creek, this ins tease in TDS is due to natural conditions. Revier of
• the hydrogreph indicates a low peek flow from snormelt runoff.
Borings. Spring 5-45, or the Olson Spring, is not a flowing spring, but a three-foot
diameter well placed in the alluvium of Dry Creek. Since a tell ras drilled on the Olson
ranch in September, 1980, this "spring" has not been put to use, although it is
water-righted for stock use. Samples at this spring display a MgCa-SO4NC03 type rater
rith a TDS average of 1,506 mg/l in 1994. This value is toter than the 1,510 mg/l
baseline average, but falls within the baseline range of 1,294 to 1,688 mg/l.
Spring S-1 is located in the channel of en ephemeral drainage that is an unnamed tributary
to Sage Creek. Further dornstream in this drainage is the 009 Pond that ras constructed
in October, 1991. No flow ras observed et this cpring during the June and September, 1994
visits.
Spring 5-23, located at the head waters of the 006 Gulch, is located in the channel of an
ephemeral drainage. This apri ng is upstream of proposed mining and should not be affected
by mining. Measured flows in Mey and September of this year were 0.12 end 0.06 gpm with
• electrical conductivity (EC) values of 3,530 and 4,950 umhos. Due to low flows, no lab
samples were collected this year.
Spring 5-41, located downstream of Spring 5-23 along the 006 Gulch, is again located in
the channel of an ephemeral drainage. [t is situated just downstream of the silted-in
Temple Pond it2. It receives water from numerous seeps issuing from this marshy, silted-in
pond. Measured flora in Nay and September of this year were 1.3 and 0.09 gpm with EC
values of 3,320 and 1,930 umhos. Due to low flora, no lab aemple• rare collected this
year.
Spring S-5, Located downstream of Spring 5-41 along a side draw to the 006 Gulch, is also
in en ephemeral channel. the lest flow monitored here tae in June, 1983, and is the only
sample on record. It ras a MgCa-NC03 type rater rith a TDS of 775 mg/l.
Spring 5-46 is a developed spring first monltori ng during the 1979 sprf ng survey. ibis
spring fa not pert of the required monitoring program, however, due to its strategic
location (famedletely helot the 005 Pond dam), monitoring at this spring has been
• voluntarily reeateblished in 1992. In 1994, samples et this site displayed a MgCa-504XC03
type water rith sn average TDS value of 7,353 mg/l.
11
- - ~ i
