4.2.1 L 1 Anchor Trench Backfill <br />The anchor trench shall be backfilled after the geomembrane has been placed and approved by <br />the Engineer. Backfill material shall be the same type as was excavated. The backfill material <br />' shall be placed in 1 foot loose lifts. Backfill material shall be moisture conditioned to within ±2 <br />percent of optimum moisture content and compacted to a minimum of 93 percent of maximum <br />density (ASTM 698). Compaction equipment shall be approved by the Engineer, shall be hand <br />' operated and shall not damage the geomembrane. <br />' 4.2.12 Field Ouality Control <br />4.2.12.1 General <br />The Contractor shall designate a full time Quality Control (QC) Technician who shall be <br />responsible for supervising and/or conducting the field quality control program throughout <br />construction. The resume for the QC Technician shall be provided in the prewnstruction <br />submittals, and the QC Technicians shall not be replaced without written authorization from the <br />Quality Assurance Engineer. There shall be a designated QC technician present during every <br />work shift. <br />4.2.12.2 Non-Destructive Seam Testing <br />' For non-destructive seam testing, testing shall be performed over the full length of welds. <br />Testing methods and procedures will be subject to the approval of the Quality Assurance <br />Engineer. <br />' Vacuum tests shall be performed concurrently with seaming work progress, not at completion <br />' of seaming. All overlapped material shall be cazefully trimmed using an approved cutting <br />instrument. The "pull-tear" method of overlap removal shall not be accepted. The vacuum boz <br />assembly shall consist of the following: <br />' - Ridge housing; <br />' - Transparent viewing window; <br />' - Soft rubber gasket attached to bottom of housing; <br />' - Porthole or valve assembly; and <br />' - 19- <br /> <br />
